Just like major NFT platforms such as OpenSea, Metamask needs to be able to access NFT metadata to display the NFT image, GIF, or video correctly. This NFT Metadata refers to the various characteristics of the token that define it like quantity, rarity, name, description, etc. The metadata itself should ideally be in a standardized format which Metamask is able to interpret and display.
Now, Metamask is standard using a third-party service to show the metadata and images stored on IPFS - the Interplanetary File System -. Ciphers.me use the IPFS directly without third party service so show your token content and metadata,
So, if you don not see your images in your Metamask try using IPFS direct.
Go to your Metamask Settings -> Security & Privacy -> IPFS Gateway.
Make sure this is switched ON and choose the https://ipfs.io/ipfs/ as preferred IPFS Gateway
NOTE:
Be sure that if you don't see your NFT image and just a placeholder instead in your Metamask wallet, nothing has happened to it, it is still safely in your account and on-chain.
